Sales Ledger Accountant
- Location: Hybrid (3 days in Twickenham)
- Job Type: Full-time (9am-5pm)
- Temp Contract for 6 months – Paying £16-£19ph plus holiday Pay (Depending on Experience)
- Reports to: Head of Finance
We are seeking a dedicated Sales Ledger Accountant to join our finance team. This role is crucial for ensuring high-quality and timely processing of sales invoices, improving the efficiency of the sales ledger, and serving as the first point of contact for customer queries. The ideal candidate will be proactive in delivering continuous improvements and ensuring accurate processing of payments from customers.
Day-to-day of the role:
Invoice Processing
- Ensure all billing for customers is calculated correctly and completely.
- Accurately and timely process invoices into the finance system.
- Correctly classify VAT on sales invoices and raise ad hoc sundry invoices.
- Calculate and process discounts.
Cash and Bank Management
- Process receipts accurately and timely in the finance system.
- Match all receipts to sales invoices and perform remittance reconciliations.
- Review BACS reports for any bounce backs and process direct debit mandates and collections.
Customer Relationship Management
- Answer customer queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with internal departments and customers to resolve invoice and payment discrepancies.
- Responsible for credit control and liaising with NHS and local authorities to ensure all payments are made.
- Mail merge letters to customers.
Other Tasks
- Raise general ledger journals and prepare aging debtor reports along with other sales ledger reporting.
- Handle month-end sales ledger closing including reconciliations.
- Calculate and apply annual fee uplift and support in the year-end audit and annual accounts.
- Identify and implement system and process improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in sales ledger management or similar accounting roles.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, especially Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
