Despatch Manager

Mploy is currently recruiting for a Despatch Manager for a company that distributes IT brands such as HP, HPE, Microsoft, Lenovo, Apple and many others to a broad range of resellers, retailers and office dealers in the UK and beyond. As a Despatch Manager, you will oversee the coordination and scheduling of transportation activities to ensure efficient delivery of goods. You will be responsible for managing a team and ensuring smooth operations within the Despatch department.

This is permanent role, working from Monday to Friday (13.30pm-22.00pm).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of warehouse operatives - acting as first point of contact for all training, performance and people related issues.
  • Develop and establish best practice in warehouse management procedures, ensuring all team members receive a full induction and regular training and that procedures are clearly communicated and followed.
  • Planning and monitoring workload into the warehouse and plan staff resource within budget.
  • Responsible for timely dispatch of wholesale parcel orders, to make sure these meet the scheduled Next Day Deliveries.
  • Supervise and undertake quality inspections to make sure customer specifications are met.
  • Daily interaction with drivers collecting orders.
  • Ability to communicate with customer services to ensure all delivery quires are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively with other warehouse mangers to ensure that the warehouse is operating efficiently and to help with any warehouse improvement projects.
  • Liaising with customers, couriers, and haulage providers to answer any queries and handle any complaints.
  • Maintaining a strong working relationship with all other Warehouse Operations teams, finance, stock accounting teams and the internal audits.
  • Supervise and contribute towards general good housekeeping within the warehouse and vehicles, including reporting any damages to equipment.
  • Champions excellent H&S and Warehouse standards and hygiene always, both personally and within the wider warehouse team, reporting any accidents or near misses.

Key Skills:

  • Previous experience within a fast-paced warehouse environment and a good understanding of distribution and supply chain.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate a diverse team to deliver excellent results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels of the business and with our customers and suppliers.
  • Embraces change and holds a relentless desire for continuous improvement and delivery of operational effectiveness.
  • Flexibility.
  • High standard email ethic.
  • Experienced in resource planning and able to work within agreed budgets.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and within a fast paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Experience with a recognized WMS (Manhattan, Infor, SAP) would be desirable.
