Learning Support Assistant

Long-Term Teachers are working with a fantastic secondary special school in Tiverton who are seeking adaptable and flexible learning support assistants to join their enthusiastic team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. You must be confident and resilient in dealing with challenging behaviour.

Key duties:

  • Providing general classroom support, in additional to 1:1 support and small group interventions when required
  • Support the teacher with lesson preparation and supervision, including gathering resources and setting up activities
  • Promote the safeguarding of all children, ensuring they feel safe and well supported
  • Manage behaviour effectively and meet students needs in line with their EHCP's
  • Support the students overall access to the curriculum

About you:

  • Has a real passion for working with young people, especially those with autism and ADHD
  • Proactive, resilient and willing to get 'stuck in'
  • Has a good sense of humour and loves working as part of a team
  • Able to engage children in their learning
  • Build strong, positive relationships with children, staff and parents/carers
  • Previous experience working individuals with autism and ADHD is desirable

If you are an experienced TA or have previous experience with working with individuals with additional needs, this would be the perfect role for you!

You will be required to work 8am - 3pm, Monday to Friday during term-time only. You will be well supported and will receive regular opportunities for professional development.
