Hyperion Partners is pleased to be recruiting for a dedicated Housing Officer on behalf of a well-regarded housing association. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in rent management and court proceedings. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing rent arrears, supporting tenants in financial difficulty, and representing the organisation in court where necessary.

The Role:

As a Housing Officer specialising in rent management, you will be the key point of contact for tenants regarding rent payments and arrears. You will work to ensure that rent is collected in a timely manner, while providing support and guidance to tenants facing financial difficulties. Additionally, you will manage cases that require legal action, including preparing and presenting cases in court.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rent Management: Monitor and manage rent accounts, ensuring that tenants are aware of their obligations and that payments are made on time.
  • Arrears Recovery: Proactively engage with tenants who are in arrears, offering support and advice to help them manage their finances and prevent further debt accumulation.
  • Court Proceedings: Prepare and manage legal cases related to rent arrears, including the preparation of court documents and representing the housing association in court.
  • Tenant Support: Provide advice on welfare benefits and financial assistance available to tenants, helping them to maximise their income and maintain their tenancies.
  • Communication: Liaise with tenants, legal advisors, and internal teams to resolve rent-related issues and ensure a smooth resolution of cases.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of rent payments, arrears, and legal actions, producing regular reports for management review.
  • Compliance: Ensure all actions are taken in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and organisational policies.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: Proven experience in housing management with a focus on rent collection and arrears recovery. Experience in preparing and managing court cases is essential.
  • Legal Knowledge: A solid understanding of housing law, particularly in relation to rent arrears and the legal process involved in recovering debts.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with tenants, colleagues, and legal professionals.
  • Empathy & Resilience: A compassionate approach to tenant support, combined with the resilience to handle challenging situations and make difficult decisions.
  • Organisational Skills: Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple cases and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

What's On Offer:

  • A competitive salary and benefits package
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression
  • A supportive and collaborative work environment
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact on tenants' lives
