Come aboard a distinguished legal practice nestled on the historic Mersey docks in Birkenhead, Wirral. We're on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced Head of Department for the Wills and Probate division. In this pivotal role, you will provide technical expertise, oversee complex administrations, and lead our outstanding, well-established team. The ideal candidate must be either STEP qualified or a qualified solicitor.

Supervise a team while aligning with established quality and risk management systems, ensuring consistent communication and support from leadership. Proactivity, collaboration, and effective communication are crucial qualities for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing comprehensive counsel on trusts, estate administration, and tax matters, including extending pro bono legal aid to union clients.
  • Advocating for best practices and maintaining case management standards, ensuring compliance with Lexcel criteria through regular file assessments and effective supervision.
  • Cultivating and fostering relationships with union clients to advance strategic growth objectives.
  • Collaborating with senior management to develop and implement business strategies aimed at expanding our Wills, Trusts & Probate department and revenue streams.
  • Meeting both individual and collective billing targets while upholding key performance indicators.
  • Generating and delivering insightful reports on case holdings, turnover, billing, and client satisfaction.
  • Providing legal and best practice training to team members and managing a repository of template documents.
  • Contributing to the firm's Lexcel accreditation by diligently adhering to quality standards.
  • Conducting departmental reviews, performance evaluations, and identifying training needs for continuous enhancement.
