We are seeking an experienced School Operations Manager to oversee the effective delivery of the PFI contract through their on-site premises team. The successful candidate will ensure a robust and systematic approach in the oversight of the school site, maintaining efficiencies, and will support the Director of Finance and Resources, leading on Health and Safety issues and risk assessments around the school.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Oversee the smooth running of the school site and its buildings, reporting updates to the Director of Finance and Resources (DoFR).
  • Manage the relationship with the PFI provider, ensuring upkeep and maintenance of school premises.
  • Liaise with local authority departments and PFI providers to ensure service standards are met.
  • Deal with outside contractors, ensuring compliance with school policies and planning work schedules.
  • Manage and update the school's asset management records and coordinate annual stock checks.
  • Ensure the maintenance of the school site, buildings, and equipment, reporting defects as appropriate.
  • Provide analysis and reports to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Governors as required.
  • Respond to emergencies or urgent issues, ensuring timely communication with the DoFR and Headteacher.
  • Act as the first point of contact for the letting of school premises to outside agencies and staff.

Health and Safety:

  • Serve as the School's Emergency Planning Officer and Fire Officer.
  • Monitor CCTV recordings and manage the school's access system.
  • Act as the School's Safety Officer, maintaining all legal and safety requirements.
  • Formulate, monitor, implement, and review the school's Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete risk assessments and take necessary action, training staff in risk assessment production.
  • Ensure that all evacuation procedures and Health and Safety requirements for site visitors or contractors are well understood and complied with.
  • Lead on planned Health & Safety inspections and take action on adverse findings.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend training courses and conferences as required.
  • Be available to work some weekends if necessary.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent listening and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to plan works coherently and provide analytical reports.
  • High standard of literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills to liaise with all levels of staff and external agencies.
  • Desire to undertake further professional development.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and remain methodical when problem-solving.
  • Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient ICT skills to manipulate spreadsheets, produce reports, and access the internet.

Experience:

  • Experience of working as part of a team and leading a team.
  • Knowledge of data and administrative management practices and procedures.
