Overview:
We are looking for an ambitious individual to join us working within our transport operations team.
This role will involve working collaboratively with almost every division within DB, giving you great exposure across the business and experience within a lot of different environments.

Working within a close-knit team, you will have the opportunity to develop the role and make it your own as you grow within the business.

You will be responsible for collating and reporting information using Microsoft excel and migrating, extracting and transferring data securely. Whilst being supported by those around you, you should be able to take act on your own initiative.

General responsibilities:

  • Data management: including maintaining/processing data in an accurate way
  • Coordination: Coordinate with carriers for the export/import of projects and general forwarding shipments
  • Shipment Processing: Manage the entire shipment process, including arranging pickups or inland transportation, booking with carriers or overseas offices, preparing documents (Airwaybill, Billing Invoice, and/or customs), forwarding, tracking, and tracing to the final destination, ensuring data quality, and identifying problems where authorized
  • Communication: Maintain consistent communication with vendors, customers, carriers, and DB Schenker overseas offices throughout the shipment process
  • Issue Reporting: Immediately report any problems, operational disputes, or discrepancies to the supervisor and head of projects
  • Customer Service: Provide exemplary customer service to all teams, acting as a shared service function within the business

You will also:

  • Manage transportation documentation efficiently
  • Address discrepancies and overages promptly

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Salary and working hours:

  • The staring salary will be £21,450 per annum.
  • The core working week is 37.5 per week, between the hours of 9am - 5:30pm.
