We are currently seeking a Pensions Solicitor to join our in-house legal team. This role is integral to the development of our Bulk Purchase Annuity (BPA) business within a growing and ambitious Life Insurer. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to engage in wider corporate and commercial duties.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Provide expert legal counsel on the development of our BPA business and throughout the transaction process.
  • Interpret and present complex legal considerations and material.
  • Draft, edit, and review legal documentation and processes required in the run-up to and throughout transactions.
  • Support the BPA team and Executive Committee in managing third-party service providers.
  • Work closely with the Compliance team to understand the regulatory and legal landscape.
  • Assist the Company Secretary with day-to-day company legal matters.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel.
  • Contribute to the risk management function from a BPA perspective.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes and industry best practice.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of UK Defined Benefit Pensions and the BPA market.
  • Excellent knowledge of the BPA process, from deal execution to buy-out.
  • Demonstrates commercial acumen.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships at all levels.
  • Good presentation and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Pro-active, pragmatic, adaptable, and flexible approach to work.
  • Minimum two years' post-qualified experience (either in-house or in practice).
  • Good knowledge and experience of life assurance and pensions business.
  • Knowledge of defined benefit liability management/de-risking work.
  • Experience working in the BPA sector is desirable.
