Lawyers (Local Government)

Positive Employment is currently recruiting multiple lawyers for our client local government organisation based in the London Borough of Merton.

The available positions are:

Commercial Property Lawyer:

  • Deal with the whole range of local authority property work across 5 borough shared services with the exception of routine residential matters. (Not right to buy, lease extensions, residential management).
  • Able to demonstrate good experience of managing a complex workload relating to commercial property asset management e.g. sales, purchases, leases, licence etc, good understanding of land title matters and relevant legislation relating to property transactions.

This is a 5 month contract with the possibility to extend.

Procurement Lawyer:

  • Procurement lawyer preferably with experience in construction as well.
  • Advising on all aspects of procurement in the public sector and drafting contracts, as well as experience of drafting and advising on JCT and NEC Contracts, preferably in local government.
  • Needs to be IT proficient, preferably with experience of using a case management system (including time recording).

This is a 3 month contract with the possibility to extend.

Housing Litigation Lawyer:

  • Housing Litigation Lawyer with Local Authority experience and to manage own case load.
  • Dealing with prosecutions and disrepair claims.
  • To cover a wide range of housing management issues. knowledge around the pre-action protocols in possession claims, succession claims and non occupation/subletting.

This is a 3 month contract with the possibility to extend.

Personal Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister or chartered legal executive or equivalent legal experience with a background in local government.
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation to the service area and the decision-making processes and procedures.
  • Good understanding of current issues and best practice on service delivery relevant to the service areas.

Working Hours: 9:00am - 17:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Pay: £350.00 per day
