Senior Auditor - TEMP

We are recruiting for a

Senior Internal Auditor to join on a 10-12 month maternity cover.

You will be responsible for delivering audits on the internal audit and assurance plan and implements audit best practice across Thames Water. The role involves leading the delivery of audits, audit projects and other assigned assurance activities as well as executing audit improvement activities. You will be building strong relationships with business stakeholders whilst continuing to build the profile of the internal audit team.

What you will be doing as Senior Internal Auditor

  • Lead and support the execution of compliance, financial, operational, programme and technology risk and controls reviews to relevant IIA standards and Thames Water methodology. This includes the planning, fieldwork and production of a final audit report with findings agreed by all levels of management up to and including Director level.
  • Ensure the facts of the audit findings, the risk severity and impact, and timing of remediation are fully supported, risk aligned and agreed by process/business owners. Ensure overall audit quality of Internal Audit activities and that they comply with the Internal Audit policy and manual.
  • Build successful business relationships with auditees and other stakeholders in the business, including managing action closure and peer review, to help ensure the audit team are delivering a best practice and value add service to the business.
  • Identify and evaluate areas for potential improvement in processes and controls while ensuring that all work is efficient and cost effective.
  • Assist the Audit Manager in developing and maintaining an infrastructure of audit methodology process, tools, and communication of audit results and provide business advisory consultations that are efficient and effective to support a high functioning audit department.

What you should bring to the role

  • Degree qualified with relevant qualification i.e. ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CMIIA / CIA
  • Extensive experience of internal audit and risk
  • Experience of delivering end-to-end audits including large infrastructure/asset projects and programmes
  • Experience of engaging with and reporting to Senior Management level staff
  • Ability to assess and suggest improvement to processes across diverse groups and business units
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities in a similar role
  • Proficiency to influence and gain trust of others where no formal authority exists
  • Objectivity and ability to challenge norms and standard operating processes
