MERITUS are recruiting for a Project Planner to join our client in Bolton on an initial 6 month contract to work on upcoming, major defence programmes.

PROJECT PLANNER/CONTROLLER - INSIDE IR35 - £39 PER HOUR - SC CLEARED - 6 MONTHS - BOLTON - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCES

The Project Planner is responsible for achieving key objectives by leading and implementing best practices in Project Planning within their assigned sector or project team. This role involves close collaboration with the Business Performance Management Team and Technical Teams to develop, deploy, and manage the Primavera Integrated Plan Network while adhering to the company's Planning and Scheduling standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze ongoing progress and performance, comparing it to contractual and internal targets to identify variances and their causes.
  • Prepare reports and recommend actions to maintain or improve progress.
  • Establish and maintain the overall project schedule according to company standards.
  • Coach and support the development of Planning skills across the Project Team, including Engineering, Production, and Project Management teams.
  • Integrate all Work Package plans to create a comprehensive network that meets company standards.
  • Deploy, manage, and maintain the Project Performance Measurement Baseline.
  • Assist Work Package teams in updating their plans monthly.
  • Produce, distribute, and report project schedule data, advising on conflicts and corrective actions.
  • Manage the Earned Value Management (EVM) methodology and apply it as needed.
  • Oversee the Project Critical Path Analysis process in line with company standards.
  • Foster strong working relationships with engineers and the broader team to embed the company's project control standards and deliver accurate project performance data on time.

Required Skillset/Experience:

  • High level of competence with Primavera, SAP PS, and industry-standard computing applications, particularly spreadsheets.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of working effectively in large, multidisciplinary teams (Engineering, Finance, Commercial, Project Management, etc.).
  • Interest in working in a multicultural, pan-European environment.
  • Proven experience in Commercial and Financial management.
  • A proactive team player who can inspire others, with strong assertiveness, negotiation, and arbitration skills.
