Summary

We've got an opportunity for a Volunteering & Community Assistant to join our team.

As a Volunteering & Community Assistant at Knole, you'll create a welcoming environment for our 400 volunteers. You'll collaborate closely with colleagues to manage daily volunteer involvement and provide support to other teams at Knole. By offering your assistance, Knole can create positive, flexible, and inclusive experiences for all volunteers.

Interviews for this role will be based on site at Knole House on the 16th July.

What it's like to work here

Knole is a stunning property which boasts a 1000 acre deer park, historic showrooms with a world-class collection of paintings and furniture, sprawling courtyards, gatehouse tower and conservation studio. We are passionate about caring for this wonderful property and visitors are at the heart of all we do.

Reporting to the Volunteering & Community Manager, you'll be working with a team of 4 other staff members. We're a busy team, who like a challenge and work at a fast pace. We work collaboratively with each other and the wider property and we're hands on and work together to get the job done.

What you'll be doing

Alongside the team, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day management and organisation of volunteering involvement at Knole. You'll assist with volunteer recruitment, induction, retention and exit and you'll assist in ensuring the Knole team are giving a high standard of customer service.

We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced working environment, someone who is flexible, adaptive and can think on their feet. You'll work with a wide range of people (400 volunteers) so you'll need to be confident in managing different people.

This is a full-time role, your working pattern will be Monday to Friday however, you'll work one weekend in three and during that week, two days off will be given in the week as rest days or TOIL. The role will begin in early September.

Who we're looking for

  • excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • understand the difference between staff and volunteers, enthusiastic about the benefits of volunteering
  • good communication and team-working skills
  • strong coordination and organisation skills
  • knowledge and practical experience of IT systems e.g. Microsoft Office
  • flexible approach and positive attitude towards change and a fast-paced working environment
