Long-Term Teachers currently supports an exceptional special needs school in Tiverton, seeking a dynamic and flexible teaching assistant to join their dedicated team. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health challenges. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate confidence and resilience when managing challenging behaviours.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide general classroom support as well as 1:1 and small group interventions when necessary
- Assist the teacher with lesson preparation, supervision, resource gathering and activity set up
- Ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing of all students, fostering a safe and supportive environment
- Effectively manage behaviour in line with students' EHCPs and meet their individual needs
- Facilitate students' access to the curriculum and help them engage in their learning

- Focus on supporting student with predominant needs associated with autism and ADHD
- Close knit team who work relentlessly to support each other as well as the students
- Based across 2 sites

About you:
- Passionate about supporting young people, particularly those with autism and ADHD
- You are proactive, resilient and eager to actively contribute to the school community
- You have a good sense of humour and enjoy working collaboratively within a team
- You can build strong, positive relationships with students, staff and parents/carers
- Prior experience working with individuals with autism and ADHD is desirable
If you are an experienced teaching assistant or have a background in supporting individuals with additional needs, this could be the ideal role for you!
You will be required to work 8am - 3pm, Monday to Friday during term-time only. You will be well supported and will receive regular opportunities for professional development.
