Financial Controller

Our client is an early stage biotech company aiming to deliver first-in-class precision medicine.

Your new role
This newly created role will report to the Head of Finance, managing the day-day operational finance functions of the Company, whilst working in close collaboration with all teams across the organisation, such as R&D, Business Development, Facilities and Operations.

You will manage a variety of core finance functions, including purchase to pay, VAT compliance, corporate tax, payroll, and transactional data and maintain the financial accounting system(s) and processes, including producing timely and insightful monthly management accounts and ad hoc reports internally and for the Board. As well as assisting in year-end and quarterly investor reporting, you will participate in cash flow forecasting and budgeting, working with departmental heads for budget monitoring and updates, and developing cash flow and treasury management models. As Financial Controller you will contribute to the development of annual business plans and strategies and interpret and communicate financial data to non-financial colleagues.
We are seeking a Financial Controller who will continually seek to improve financial processes and controls, developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies.

What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will have a proven ability to adapt and manage a diverse array of tasks and priorities and a high level of organisation and proficiency with data processing, presentation, storage, and distribution. Experience of implementing process and system improvements, identifying opportunities for change, and utilising new technologies and a desire to learn and grow, bringing new insights to the team and the wider organisation are all required. You will be an optimistic and enthusiastic, self-starter with an exemplary work ethic and can-do and hands-on attitude. Experience in life science or start-up / growing company environments is highly desirable.
