About the Role:

Accountancy Action is currently recruiting an Accounts Assistant on behalf of a dynamic and fast-growing company. This role requires an individual who is highly organized, proactive, and eager to develop their career in accounting and finance. You will be involved in a wide variety of tasks, providing comprehensive accounting, tax, and administrative support to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Onboarding new clients and managing company incorporations.
  • Registering companies for VAT, PAYE, and Corporation Tax.
  • Liaising with clients through telephone, email, and post, ensuring excellent communication.
  • Processing PAYE and VAT returns and managing client payroll.
  • Handling pension processing and reconciliation.
  • Performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Enacting credit control measures for clients.
  • Assisting with the preparation of management information for clients.
  • Ensuring adherence to all filing deadlines, including chasing clients for missing information.
  • Communicating with HMRC on behalf of clients.
  • Assisting with accounting administrative duties, including IR35 compliance.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience & Skills:

  • Prior experience in an accounting or tax role within a practice environment is highly preferable.

  • Strong proficiency in Sage 50 Accounts/Sage 50 Payroll.

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and general computer literacy.

  • Excellent telephone manner, written communication, and analytical skills.

  • Strong numeracy skills and commercial judgement.

  • Personal Attributes:

  • Meticulous attention to detail with a structured approach to work.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

  • A positive 'can-do' attitude, self-motivation, and a willingness to assist in various areas of the business.

  • Friendly, outgoing, and hardworking with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.

  • Qualifications:

  • Good academic record with an accounting or tax qualification preferred (candidates working towards one will also be considered).
