£500 per day PAYE

Our client is the biggest utilities and power networks provider in the country. They need a qualified Senior Quantity Surveyor for their operation in Glasgow.

As the Senior QS, your responsibilities will include:

Promote a culture of contractual and commercial awareness within the Framework team

Commercial Delivery

Responsible for developing and maintaining the Framework Risk and Opportunity Register

Responsible in conjunction with the operational team for the identification of change and the management of the change management process

Cost Management:

Understand allowances for elements of work and embed and maintain a culture of cost effective delivery

Forecast future expenditure based on anticipated work volumes

Value management:

Responsible for the early identification of potential disputes facilitating early intervention and resolution

Financial reporting:

Monitoring and reporting cash, revenue and cost positions across all cost centres

Supply Chain and Procurement:

Support on all procurement activities to ensure best value procurement

Pre Contract and Competitive Tender

Work with the Business Development team to ensure active management of commercial elements of the work winning process

Develop and implement a clear commercial strategy for the Contracts including tender strategies, cash flow strategies and margin improvement strategies

Ensure review of all of the contractual obligations and commercial risks prior to the submission of tenders

You will:

Have knowledge and working experience of the NEC suite of Contracts

Previous framework experience within the power sector would be advantageous, if not, within wider utilties.

Relevant degree qualification

Skilled in contract costing and forecasting Subcontract procurement and administration

Contract experience, supporting a project team in capturing site records for variations and valuations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain effective relationships.

Effective time management and adherence to deadlines

You will be:

A comprehensive level of commercial experience preferably with a contracting organisation with proven experience of working on a project of similar scale and complexity

Demonstrable expert knowledge of contract procedure, most particularly those applicable to the NEC suite of contracts.

Utilities experience

BSc or HND in Quantity Surveying or other equivalent construction related subject

Relevant CSCS card

Full UK driving license

Would suit an Commercial Manager, Commercial Engineer, Quantity Surveyor, Project Engineer, Estimator, Tendering Engineer
