Overview
Service Care is assisting Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ) in recruiting a Lead Technical Writer. This role is essential in delivering effective technology solutions to counter terrorism by ensuring high-quality technical writing across teams and aligning with strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion and implement effective project delivery to support the vision of delivering technology to counter terrorism.
  • Standardise tools, communication methods, and processes for technical writing.
  • Collaborate with service managers, technology leaders, and senior stakeholders to resource teams and resolve issues.
  • Promote and advance the discipline of technical writing within the organisation.
  • Engage with the cross-government community and stay updated on industry changes.
  • Provide leadership in strategic thinking, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
  • Lead on user-focused content design, assuring quality and driving continuous improvements.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Agile Working: Guide teams in choosing the best delivery methods and managing outcomes.
  • Prototyping: Demonstrate the value of prototyping and apply the right techniques.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build long-term relationships, influence stakeholders, and manage communications.
  • Strategic Thinking: Lead strategy design and implementation, ensuring it meets business needs.
  • User Focus & Content Design: Apply strategic thinking to meet evolving user needs and ensure high-quality content.

Mandatory Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience within Central Government projects.
  • Experience in large-scale Business Change and IT-enabled Transformation Programmes.
  • Proven track record in managing multiple suppliers, including large IT service providers.
  • Demonstrated experience in test management of ICT projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to manage complex stakeholder requirements.
  • SC clearance is required.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in the policing sector, particularly within Counter Terrorism (CT) Policing.
  • Familiarity with Central Government environments and processes.
  • Experience in developing technical documents for Central Government.

Qualifications

  • Project management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, Safe Agile, APM).
