We are seeking an Assistant Buyer to join our Product Development Team and support the Category Manager in defining and implementing the commercial and purchasing strategy. This role is integral to the continuous growth of the business, ensuring alignment with the company's objectives.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Manage day-to-day commercial relationships with the supplier base, including contract negotiations.
  • Resolve supply chain issues in collaboration with the inventory control team.
  • Work with product development and quality teams to resolve product quality issues.
  • Assist commercial and sales teams with new business tenders and promotional activities.
  • Prepare for supplier meetings, trade shows, and business trips, ensuring follow-through on actions.
  • Support the Category Manager in product management tasks, such as developing product strategies and monitoring profitability.
  • Manage new product introductions and resourcing activities, ensuring key milestones are met.
  • Validate cost price movements and prepare landed cost templates to support pricing decisions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant business discipline (e.g., Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Studies, Management, Finance).
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to work well both in a team and individually.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and achieve goals.
  • Capable of multitasking in high-pressure, deadline-driven situations.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Resourceful, with lateral thinking and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Computer literate with strong Excel skills (pivot tables, xlookup, IFS, etc).
  • Drive, ambition, and enthusiasm to deliver results and progress within the organisation.
