Electrical Fitter

Shorterm Group are currently partnered with a High Voltage Electrical Engineering company, looking for an Electrical Fitter to deliver skilled HV craft work for the Major Projects and Customer Networks Business.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Carry out planned operation and maintenance activities on privately owned high-voltage (HV) networks, including routine inspections and in-depth switchgear maintenance, with occasional out-of-hours work.
  • Conduct HV projects and remedial activities such as substation fitting, which includes the installation or replacement of switchgear and transformers, earthing installation, network modifications, and the setup of structures and equipment.
  • Serve as a competent person for a variety of engineering tasks under the supervision of Customer Networks Engineers.
  • Collaborate effectively with subcontractors, providing support for specialized activities.
  • Manage company-issued tools, vehicles, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE), ensuring all inspections, calibrations, and testing are performed as needed.
  • Facilitate effective communication between the Major Projects and Customer Networks Business units and other departments.
  • Ensure all site documentation is completed promptly and to a high standard.
  • Communicate with technical accuracy and professionalism with customers and colleagues, seeking assistance or guidance from peers when necessary.
  • Adopt a flexible and proactive approach to work, within your competencies, assisting the Major Projects and Customer Networks Business unit as needed, which may involve working with higher voltages and emerging technologies.
  • Work outside of normal working hours will be required to meet our customers' needs (you will receive overtime rates for this)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years practical electrical fitting experience.
  • EHV substation construction fitting.
  • Appropriate electrical qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ, ONC, HNC, BTEC or equivalent.
  • Craft training by a recognised provider for a range of tasks relevant to the role.
  • 5 GCSE's grade A-C/ 9-4, or equivalent, including Maths, English and Physics.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
