The Secondary school I am working with is seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary School History Teacher to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching history to students in grades 7-11, fostering a positive learning environment, and helping students develop a deeper understanding of historical events, cultures, and perspectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in history, excellent classroom management skills, and a commitment to student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state and national history standards.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Integrate technology and interactive activities to enhance student engagement and understanding.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage respectful and constructive discussions on historical topics.
  • Design and administer assessments to evaluate student progress and understanding.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and exams.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in history education and pedagogy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share resources, strategies, and support.
  • Provide additional support and resources for students who need extra help.
  • Encourage critical thinking and the development of strong research and analytical skills.
  • Participate in school events, committees, and extracurricular activities as needed.
  • Support the school's mission and values in all interactions with students, colleagues, and the community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in History, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification for secondary education in the UK.
  • Proven experience teaching history at the secondary school level.
  • Strong knowledge of historical content and teaching methods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes.
