Full-Time, Monday to Thursday 7:00am - 3:30pm, Early finish on Fridays at 12:00pm

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement Assistant to join our client. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the purchasing process, ensuring the timely delivery of materials and maintaining optimal stock levels. You will collaborate closely with suppliers, the Sales team and internal stakeholders to ensure that production runs smoothly and customer requirements are met. This role is based in Derby with occasional travel to sites across the UK.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and issue purchase orders from approved requisitions. Follow up on order confirmations and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Work closely with suppliers to expedite orders, ensuring continuity of supply and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Identify inefficiencies in procurement processes and suggest improvements to reduce waste in time, cost and resources.
  • Vet and establish relationships with new suppliers, ensuring best practices and fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to meet customer requirements, ensuring smooth operations between Sales and Production.
  • Conduct monthly stock takes, ensuring accurate inventory records and assisting in stock planning.
  • Create and adjust work plans in line with production priorities, ensuring a smooth workflow to meet sales and customer service targets.
  • Handle monthly credit card expenditure reconciliation for the department.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to support departmental growth and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a similar role, managing supplier relationships and handling commercial transactions.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities within tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail.
