Transport Planner - Freight Industry

Our client, a leading freight organisation, is currently seeking a dynamic and dedicated Transport Planner to join their team in Slough. As a Transport Planner, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the organisation's operations and contribute to their commitment to providing efficient and reliable transportation services.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan collection and delivery jobs on vehicles and drivers, ensuring the smooth running of all collections and deliveries.
  • Prioritise driver's work to ensure timely completion of all jobs.
  • Adhere to customer requirements, especially time-constrained jobs.
  • Follow internal procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and requirements in areas such as health and safety, dangerous goods, aviation security, temperature-controlled freight, and high-value freight.
  • Keep in regular contact with drivers to monitor journeys and address any potential issues, providing them with timely information on traffic problems.
  • Maintain regular contact with customers and other depots to keep them informed of any issues.
  • Flexibly plan jobs on drivers throughout the day to accommodate their runs.
  • Adapt driver's runs to ensure coverage for all jobs in case of unforeseen issues.
  • Ensure accurate input of all runs into the Fleetwizard system.

Requirements:

  • Diligent attention to detail.
  • Good geographical knowledge to optimise route planning.
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively.
  • Quick decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Our client offers a competitive annual salary ranging from £34,000 to £38,000, depending on experience. In addition to a fulfilling career, they provide a supportive work environment and opportunities for professional growth and training. This role requires flexibility and will require weekend work. To start with the role will be day shits for the first month. The role will then be 4 on 4 off and working alone potentially on some occasions. Flexibility required and working weekends.
