As the Finance Director you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and ensuring the financial health and sustainability of our institution. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee all financial aspects of the organisation and provide strategic guidance to senior management.

Description

Key responsibilities of the successful Finance Director:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the institution's objectives and long-term vision.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and provide regular financial forecasts to support decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, for presentation to the board of directors and senior management.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Manage cash flow effectively to support operational needs and strategic initiatives, optimising liquidity and maximising returns on investments.
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and procurement, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, identify areas for improvement, and drive performance optimisation.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including board members, auditors, regulatory authorities, and financial institutions.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Profile

The successful Finance Director will have:

  • A Finance professional with experience at a senior level ideally with ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent financial qualification.
  • Cultural sensitivity and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Experience in the education sector or nonprofit organisations is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute financial strategies that support organisational goals and drive growth.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • High ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to transparency, accountability, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
