About the Company:
Our client is a Leeds-based construction company specialising in commercial refurbishment projects as well as commercial and residential new builds. Known for delivering high-quality projects, they are expanding and looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team.
The Role:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be a critical part of the construction team, responsible for managing all financial aspects of projects from inception through to completion. You'll work closely with the Commercial and Project teams to ensure project costs are controlled and budgets are maintained, conducting detailed cost analysis and monitoring progress to achieve financial success on high-value projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage cost plans, budgets, and cash flows for projects from pre-construction through completion.
- Conduct detailed measurements and valuations of work to prepare accurate bills of quantities.
- Provide accurate and timely cost estimates and tender submissions, ensuring all project requirements are met.
- Work closely with the Commercial Director, project managers, and other stakeholders to develop cost strategies and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Source and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating terms to achieve best value for the company and clients.
- Monitor project costs, identify potential overruns, and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure alignment between project progress and budget allocations.
- Maintain accurate financial records and prepare cost reports for senior management.
- Support the project handover process by collaborating with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
Experience & Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of commercial refurbishment or new build projects in both residential and commercial sectors.
- In-depth understanding of construction methods, materials, and relevant regulations.
- Proven track record of managing project costs, budgets, and financial risk effectively.
- Proficient in using relevant software (e.g., measurement software, Excel).
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills to liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work to tight deadlines.
- A degree or HND/HNC in quantity surveying, construction, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
