Tradewind are recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to start in September on a full time & long term basis at a special needs school in North Manchester for children aged 11-19 with Autism, Complex Needs and Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

The job:

  • SEN Teaching Assistant at a special needs high school in North Manchester.
  • Start ASAP and continue in September.
  • Full time, Monday to Friday.
  • 8:30am - 4:20pm each day.
  • Temporary to permanent basis for the right person.
  • Pay up to £95/day DOE.
  • Paid PAYE via Tradewind, we don't use third party umbrella payroll companies!
  • Equal pay to perm staff in similar roles after 12th week.
  • Support with learning, emotions, behaviour, speech & language, sensory understanding & physical development
  • All children have an EHCP for special needs including Autism, Complex Needs or Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD).
  • Small class sizes of no more than 10 pupils with a teacher and at least two TAs in each group.
  • Some children will require support with moving and use wheelchairs and hoists.
  • Some children need support with personal care tasks such as feeding, toileting, changing and personal hygiene.
  • Highly differentiated curriculum to meet individual needs based around life skills and development of sensory understanding, communication, physical, social, emotional & behavioural aspects.
  • Amazing facilities such as a hydrotherapy pool, sensory rooms, soft play, gardens & outdoor play.
  • Ongoing training opportunities delivered by the school to enhance your skills & CV.
  • Easily accessible by bus or car.

To join us and be successful in this school based SEN Teaching Assistant role in North Manchester you will need to:

  • Have an enhanced DBS certificate that is on the Update Service (or be happy to apply for a new one).
  • Minimum of two professional references.
  • Provide a CV with a full history from your education until present.
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Overseas Police certificates (only if applicable).
  • Some prior experience supporting children or young adults with special needs.
  • The ability to provide academic support as well as emotional and physical support when required.
