Randstad Education is seeking passionate and knowledgeable History Teachers to join our vibrant team. We have both short-term and long-term supply roles in the Brentwood area. The ideal candidates will have a deep understanding of historical events and their impact on the present, combined with a talent for making history come alive in the classroom. Many of our secondary schools value academic excellence, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of historical contexts and their relevance to the present day.

Requirements:

  • QTS (Qualified teaching status) is essential.
  • An up to date enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or the willingness to obtain one.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK is essential.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a genuine passion for history curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with the history department and other staff to enrich the history curriculum and integrate interdisciplinary approaches.
  • A commitment to continuous professional growth and contributing to the broader life of the school.
  • Lead and participate in extracurricular activities, such as history clubs, educational trips, and special history-related events, to enhance student's learning.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver high-quality history lessons that engage and challenge students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach A-level history.
  • Create opportunities for students to analyse primary and secondary sources, develop historical interpretations, and communicate their findings effectively.
  • Play a major part in creating the history curriculum by using state-of-the-art materials and creative teaching strategies.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
