An exciting new General Manager permanent position has arisen with a dynamic Engineering organisation based in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

The General Manager will lead a small team of engineering professionals dedicated to creating bespoke test solutions and ground support equipment for the aerospace engineering industry. This is an exciting opportunity to join a stimulating and dynamic business. The role requires you to influence and develop a high-performing and sustainable business roadmap. This small organisation provides a close-knit and collaborative working environment.

Responsibilities - General Manager

  • Lead and provide operational management of the small Engineering team.
  • Drive financial performance and enhance operating profits, while maintaining strong business performance and team outputs.
  • Manage daily aspects of the business, fostering strong relationships with industry partners, suppliers, vendors and clients.
  • Manage the team to ensure that team capabilities, skills, and outputs are aligned to meet organisational goals. You will also implement people management processes to cultivate a safe, inclusive and productive working environment.
  • Drive innovation and engineering solutions to continue to shape product development in line with financial, technical and customer requirements.
  • A key aspect of your role will be leading the commercial activities including customer and stakeholder management, pricing and bid management, shaping contractual terms and delivery/resourcing schedules.
  • Conduct reviews of operational risks including site and cyber security elements, putting in place appropriate risk mitigation strategies. You will also oversee operational management relating to health and safety, and security.

Skills & experience - General Manager

  • Extensive experience in managing small businesses or business units with proven P&L and budget management responsibilities.
  • Engineering / product management experience, ideally with Aerospace, Defence or Engineering sectors.
  • Strong leadership, team management, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Market and customer awareness, with experience in sales, bid management and pricing management.
