We are looking for an experienced nurse who is ready for a new challenge to work as a Senior Staff Nurse within the Corporate Vulnerable Patient Team. This exciting new opportunity has arisen to support the development of children's and adolescent mental health services at the hospital.

Description:

The successful candidate will need to show a passion for CAMHs. They will need to work autonomously to ensure quality care and safety for our patients and be visionary enough to develop the mental health agenda within the children's hospital and beyond.

With an increasing number of mental health patients being seen within the Trust, a good understanding of how to comfortably and confidently manage this patient group is essential. The role also requires the ability to support other staff through training and mentoring.

Responsibilities include:

  • High-level nursing and observation
  • Delivering a range of nursing and psychosocial interventions to help reduce patients' distress
  • Assisting and supporting general hospital colleagues in making decisions about treatment and care in complex situations
  • Providing one-to-one nursing for behaviorally disturbed, distressed, or confused patients
  • Offering support and advice to patients presenting with a range of undifferentiated mental health, psychological problems, and psychiatric illnesses
  • Representing mental health services within the general hospital

Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a mental health setting
  • Knowledge and experience of adult safeguarding procedures
  • Ability to restrain patients using approved techniques
  • Handling and storing patient valuables appropriately
  • Ability to deal with emotional and distressing situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Respect for the privacy and dignity of individuals
  • Ability to manage demanding situations and cope with exposure to aggressive behavior
  • Ability to plan own workload
  • Knowledge of Mental Health presentations and appropriate interventions
  • Understanding of the NMC Code of Conduct
  • Knowledge of risk management and how to plan care to account for risk
