Salary Circa £42,000 depending on skills and experience

Location: Huntingdon & Home Working

Full time/37 hours per week / Fixed Term Contract until end of March 2025

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated WINEP Engagement Manager to join our team, reporting directly to the Water Quality Policy and Strategy Manager. In this crucial role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for the management of internal WINEP (Water Industry National Environment Programme) queries and ensure alignment with customer environmental expectations.

As the WINEP Engagement Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the development of engagement strategies that highlight the environmental deliverables and outcomes achieved throughout the year. Your efforts will be instrumental in engaging both internal stakeholders and customers, ensuring they are well-informed about our environmental progress and commitments.

What you'll be doing?

  • Work with the Water Quality Policy and Strategy Manager to develop an engagement strategy for WINEP, identify target audiences and engagement tools to be developed.
  • Support with the review and development of WINEP processes, providing a critical insight into how processes could be communicated effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Develop WINEP work programme summaries to enable a wider business understanding of the delivery context and the outcomes being achieved.
  • Support with responding to regulatory requests relating to WINEP.
  • Support with achieving our Get River Positive commitment around open and transparent data, but working with the team to ensure that WINEP obligations are accessible and understandable by target audiences.
  • Develop a training programme with key internal audiences to enable the effective rollout of WINEP comms packs
  • Develop engagements strategies related to programmes of work within the tracker, providing visibility and regular updates as required.
  • Support the tracking and management of WINEP delivery risk through open engagement with the WINEP Delivery Assurance Manager and technical leads within Q&E.
  • Engage with operation teams to ensure awareness and visibility of upcoming obligations, and acceptance of new permit conditions to achieve sign-off.
  • Liaise with internal communications teams to ensure that material and engagement strategies are appropriate and consistent across Q&E.
  • Engage with corporate comms teams to understand essential reporting dates and needs of the company in relation to WINEP delivery.
  • Supporting the management environmental datasets to ensure accuracy and visibility across the organisation

What does it take to be successful?

  • Educated to degree level in relevant environmental/scientific discipline or demonstrate equivalent experience gained through career.
  • Experience of working in the field of environmental regulation.
  • Experience of working within the Water Industry and/or environmental regulators, particularly around WINEP development.
  • Experience in making commercial decisions often with conflicting priorities.
  • Experience of public speaking and representation to external audiences and regulators.
  • Demonstrate the ability to influence stakeholders and the regulatory and political agenda.
  • Appropriate professional qualification or membership of professional body.
  • Ability to assess risks & make significant decisions with incomplete information.
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manipulate and communicate technical information to a variety of audiences
