Trade Surveillance Officer - Market Abuse

On behalf of NatWest, we are looking for a Trade Surveillance Officer - Market Abuse for an initial 6-month contract, based hybrid in either London, Manchester or Edinburgh.

NatWest is a major UK retail bank, providing every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.

Join us as a Trade Surveillance Officer - Market Abuse:

You will play a vital role in undertaking surveillance checks and fact-finding reviews to monitor trading activities and ultimately ensure compliance with market conduct policies and regulation. You will contribute to improving existing surveillance systems as well as assisting in driving new technological solution and have the opportunity to develop your analytical skills in a collaborative and fast-paced role.

What you'll do:

  • Pro-actively identifying potential or actual emerging risks and driving control enhancements to make sure that surveillance activities operate efficiently and providing appropriate risk mitigation.
  • Managing the team.
  • Analysing activity for potential red flags and escalating appropriately.
  • Assisting in providing in-depth analysis of alerts, calibration, including the use of market data, source system data, and alerting data.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of an annual surveillance programme of work that completes on time.
  • Keeping up to date with changing regulations and policies.

The skills you'll need:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Fixed Income and Currency products, regulations, electronic trading concepts, and risks.
  • Previous quality assurance and calibration experience.
  • Ability to apply a technical understanding to data to solve complex problems.
  • Knowledge of how to assist in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Adaptable to changing market situations, technology, and business needs.
