Your new role
We are looking for someone with experience in a similar position or would like to develop finance and book-keeping skills in an interesting and varied environment.
Principal Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of the purchase ledger, Sage 50. Ensuring all supplier records are accurate and up to date, entry of purchase invoices, reconciliation of supplier statements.
  • Preparation of weekly supplier payment runs.
  • Download reports for weekly/monthly payments to suppliers and upload via bank transfer (BACS) ready for authorisation
  • Reconciliation of supplier statements to the purchase ledger.
  • Maintaining Finance MS Outlook in-boxes on a daily basis and effectively dealing with supplier queries and internal departmental queries.
  • Processing of invoices onto the purchases approval system and daily data imports into the Sage purchase ledger.
  • Input and uploading staff expense claims.
  • Processing daily takings. Timely preparation, checking and posting of journals for daily returns.
  • Weekly reconciliation of bank accounts.
  • Monthly reconciliation of company credit card statements and petty cash.
  • Maintenance of the sales ledger including raising invoices and credit control, working closely with the sales team to ensure all customers are invoiced accurately and timely.
  • Assisting members of the finance team in the production of monthly management accounts, income reports, year-end accounts, and other reports as required.
  • Undertake financial administration duties as required.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience of working in a similar role or a role with transferable skills
  • An ability to multi-task
  • An understanding of the principals behind double entry book-keeping
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience of using a computerised accounting packages including Sage or similar
  • Excellent numeracy and excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills, in person and over the phone
  • A proactive approach
  • Excellent organisational skills, demonstrating flexibility to respond to a variety of queries
  • Computer literate - experience of using MS Office and databases
