Multi-Skilled Maintenance Operative

Salary: £25,145 per annum
Working Hours: 39 hours per week

The Black Country Living Museum is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Operator to join our expanding Maintenance Team. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of general building repairs and maintenance. If you are interested in a hands-on role across the museum's 26-acre site that will put your skills to use then keep reading!

Successful applicants will be expected to work weekends, Bank Holidays and occasional evenings.

What are the duties?

  • Undertaking repairs and maintenance operations to museum buildings, structures and exhibits.
  • Working on the museums historical buildings using traditional methods and materials.
  • Safely operating museum vehicles, maintaining tools, equipment and plant while meeting Health & Safety standards.
  • Safely operating museum vehicles and carrying out delivery duties as required.
  • Maintaining accurate electronic administration.
  • Preparing for museum events by setting up and taking down equipment when required.
  • Assisting with general site work where appropriate.

What are we looking for?

  • Extensive repairs and maintenance experience.
  • Skilled in carpentry, plumbing and brickwork.
  • Relevant trade qualification (e.g. NVQ or City & Guilds).
  • Ability to work on an iconic collection of buildings and collections.
  • IT proficient.
  • Respectful and inclusive communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and excellent team working skills.
  • Flexible approach to work.
