Our client is seeking a dedicated Production Manager to join their site in Pontypool. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing process, ensuring that production schedules are met, managing a team of production staff, and implementing quality control measures. You will also work closely with other departments to optimize efficiency and ensure that products meet the highest standards.

Day to day of the role:

  • Oversee the manufacturing process and ensure production schedules are met.
  • Manage a team of production staff, including Value Stream Lead and shop floor personnel, with day-to-day line management responsibilities.
  • Promote Equal Opportunities and abide by the Company rules and regulations.
  • Represent the business professionally when greeting visitors in person or on the phone.
  • Ensure safe working practices are observed and the Health and Safety Policy is adhered to.
  • Report any hazards or incidents to the appropriate Safety representative.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
  • Manage and allocate work and duties based on skill levels and time of all shop floor personnel.
  • Arrange external training courses for personnel wishing to cross-train or advance their skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure all areas of company Health & Safety are adhered to, including up-to-date records.
  • Ensure all staff have the proper tools and equipment (including PPE) to carry out their job safely.
  • Ensure the building and its grounds are safe and free from danger.
  • Drive forward shop floor Continuous Improvement and Good Housekeeping techniques.
  • Assist and implement initiatives on the company's journey to lean manufacturing.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Relevant leadership experience in a production environment, minimum of 5 years.
  • ILM level 3 or above in management
  • Problem solving Techniques
  • IOSH or Managing Safely Qualification
  • ECDL (European Computer Driving License) or equivalent level of IT skills
  • HND in Engineering desirable
  • Level 5 in Occupational Health & Safety desirable
  • Knowledge of welding would be advantageous.
  • Strong people management skills with experience in performance management.
  • Experience in driving Continuous Improvement and implementing lean manufacturing principles.
