What ASEND Tuition Is
We are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Marlow. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school.
We tutor pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times, and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our tuition is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills. We need a wide range of tutors to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each tutor with pupils who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.

About The Pupil
Our pupil is a 14 year old young man who is autistic and recently experienced Autistic burnout. He is an intelligent young person who has made great progress in his academics and needs some extra support to achieve iGCSEs in English and Maths. He is an anxious young man who feels misunderstood and overwhelmed at school. A gentle and engaging tutor would be a great match to help him build his confidence in social situations and help him to cope with his emotions. He is an incredibly bright pupil who has a keen interest in cars, gaming and fishing. His future plans include working in the field of motorsports engineering.
A tutor who is able to deliver iGCSE content for Maths and English will be the ideal candidate - although there is a possibility of two tutors, one for each subject. Someone who is friendly and has a great sense of humour would be a good bonus to match our pupil's personality and to build a trusting relationship. This young person also needs someone who can make the transition back to school less daunting and support him along the way.
About you:
- You'll have some experience with SEN: Autism and Autistic burnout, Anxiety and OCD
- You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way
- You will be comfortable teaching English and/or Maths to iGCSE level
- You'll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
- You'll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with children and their families - we work closely with families to create a plan
- Ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning
- Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
- Use a person-centred approach in their work
- Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that you plan and do
- Have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement.
