JOB PURPOSE

As an Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing and growing client accounts, driving sales, and ensuring the successful execution of exhibitions. You will build strong client relationships, deliver tailored solutions to meet business needs, and coordinate with internal teams to implement these solutions.

Your role includes owning key customer relationships with a focus on retention, expansion, and acquiring new business. Additionally, you will be responsible for winning new business, managing client relationships, and ensuring overall customer satisfaction.

In a nutshell, you will be focused on developing client relationships through consultative selling and, when appropriate, cross selling across Akabo Media's products.

CORE TASKS

  • Sales and Negotiation: Selling exhibition stands, speaking slots, sponsorship to a variety of businesses within the relevant industries.
  • Lead Generation: Identify and pursue potential exhibitors and sponsors through various channels such as industry events, cold calling, networking, and referrals.
  • Providing effective counsel - using your expertise, experience, and knowledge to advise your clients on the best solutions, the best course of action and accurately manage expectations.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, understanding their needs, objectives, and preferences to tailor sales solutions accordingly.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain a well-organized sales pipeline, tracking leads, opportunities, and sales activities using CRM software or other tracking systems.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to identify new sales opportunities, anticipate client needs, and adapt sales strategies accordingly.
  • Identifying and capitalising on new business opportunities - listening carefully, thinking outside the box and helping our clients and driving revenue growth

KEY SKILLS

  • Education: bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Preferably in related field such as Business.
  • Previous experience: Demonstrated experience of at least 24 months in sales, preferably B2B or Exhibitions.
  • Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with clients, exhibitors, sponsors, and industry partners. Ability to understand client needs and tailor solutions to meet their objectives.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate the value proposition of exhibitions and persuade potential clients.
  • Customer Focus: Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and building long-term client relationships. Ability to anticipate client needs and provide solutions to enhance their experience.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and finance, to ensure alignment of sales efforts with overall business objectives.
  • Resilience and Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and market conditions. Resilience to overcome objections and setbacks in the sales process.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills to manage multiple clients, projects, and deadlines simultaneously. Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in contract negotiations and fulfilment.
  • Results Orientation: Results-driven mindset with a focus on achieving and exceeding sales targets.
