We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Finance to join a dynamic team on the Isle of Wight. This is an interim role but has an opportunity for permanent. You will need to be based on the Isle of Wight, or within travel distance as the role is hybrid and requires some time on site.
This pivotal role involves shaping the financial and resource landscape of a Further Education institute, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and maintaining outstanding financials.
**Day to Day of the role:
- Deliver on the company's financial strategy in collaboration with the Senior Management team.
- Ensure financial targets and budgets are met and aligned with the overall strategy.
- Develop partnerships with key stakeholders and work closely with the governing body.
- Oversee audit processes, risk management, and ensure full legal compliance with external bodies.
- Lead the health and safety and estates team, promoting a positive health and safety culture
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Recognised accounting qualification, ideally CCAB or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in financial management principles, including management accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis ideally within further or higher education, university or local government.
- Understanding of audit and payroll functions.
- Proficiency in risk assessment, management, and compliance.
- Strategic thinking with hands-on experience to support teams and stakeholders.
- Strong leadership skills and an analytical mindset - Lead from the front.
- Drive and enthusiasm to review services and implement change.
- High standards of customer service and a well-developed sense of humour.
