Interim SEN Team Manager

A local authority in greater manchester is looking for an experienced SEND team manager who would be available to start in the next couple weeks. This is a hybrid role which will require going into the office.

Main purpose of the job:

  • To be responsible for the effective administration of the assessment and reassessment of pupils' special educational needs, including their placement, monitoring and review.
  • To oversee service development and strategies to enable the Council to meet statutory requirements including implementing the requirements of new legislation.
  • Prepare cases and represent schools and the Council at SEN and Disability Tribunals and at the Disagreement Resolution Service.
  • To actively contribute to local, regional and national developments within SEND.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the statutory assessment process and co-ordinating the outcomes of statutory reviews of statements/ Education, Health and Care Plans for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in mainstream schools both in and out of the borough and to manage designated Casework Officers.
  • To work with the Inclusion Manager to respond appropriately to comments and complaints from MPs, elected members, schools, parents and colleagues.
  • To work with the second SEN Manager to ensure that allocation panels are organised and furnished with the appropriate information to ensure timely decisions are made.
  • To ensure that the Council meets its statutory responsibilities in relation to Special Education Needs and the Code of Practice
  • To manage the SEN budget and Finance spreadsheet
  • Contribute to the business planning process for the Inclusion Service
