We are looking for a Demand and Inventory Planner to join my client in Luton. The successful candidate will contribute to the continuous improvement of the supply chain function with the key objective of maximising customer service levels, optimising inventory, and ensuring an efficient approach to all supply chain and project-related planning activities.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Be part of a best-in-class inventory planning team, ensuring robust systems and procedures for the review, placement, progression, and delivery of purchase orders from 3rd party overseas factories.
  • Interpret and validate MRP plans, along with generation, approval, and progression of POs and associated paperwork.
  • Identify shortages and potential out of stocks, taking appropriate actions to minimise disruption to the supply chain.
  • Manage Inventory Planning Parameters and ensure the integrity of planning data to allow for the continual optimisation of inventory and maximisation of service levels.
  • Provide key inventory data, analysis, and reports to support routine and ad-hoc planning activities and decision-making.
  • Implement robust systems and procedures to ensure demand plans are reviewed and updated timely, maintaining the integrity of demand planning data.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to create accurate demand planning forecasts, incorporating the latest customer data and market intelligence.
  • Support suppliers in maximising delivery performance and report results monthly, working with Management to implement corrective actions or initiatives as needed.
  • Generate monthly management reporting information, providing commentary and analysis for accurate interpretation and decision-making.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A Level education or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years inventory planning experience.
  • Background in inventory planning for long lead time FMCG goods within a distribution business.
  • Experience working closely with major wholesale and retail supply chain teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure and deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organisation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well both independently and in a team.
  • Resourceful and lateral thinking with a creative approach to tasks.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy with strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
  • Drive, ambition, and enthusiasm to deliver results and progress within the organisation.
  • ERP System experience, including Inventory Control.
