Sales Manager £60,000 (negotiable) + bonus, car & benefits Grays

This is a major global Transport & Logistics business with operations around the globe and a growing presence in the UK providing Road Freight and Contract Logistics services to their customer base. They are now seeking a commercially-driven Sales Manager to both sell and provide direction and management to their sales team. The role will suit either an existing Sales Manager or a Business Development Manager looking to step into a management role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a sales team comprising internal sales executives and an on the road BDM to drive commercial revenues.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with new and existing customers promoting their road freight services
  • Re-organise the approach of internal sales team to spot quoting and rate negotiation.
  • Use active sales approaches, prospecting and cold approaches to Identify and target new customers.
  • Prepare and present proposals, quotes and pricing to potential customers
  • Negotiate contract terms.
  • Monitor and track sales performance using relevant metrics and analytics.
  • Represent the company at industry events, tradeshows and conferences.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Proven track record of successful business development and sales experience within the UK and European road transport and logistics industry.
  • Strong understanding of transport & logistics operations, processes, and industry best practice.
  • Proficient understanding of road freight operations encompassing FTL/LTL, import/export regulations and customs
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Proficient in the use of CRM systems
  • Able to lead and develop a small team.
