Robertson Bell are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Finance to join a leading public sector organisation on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is ideal for an experienced and proactive Finance Manager who will be responsible for providing varied accounting support and oversight of the financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise the CEO and Director of Finance and Operations on statutory obligations and legislative changes concerning charity accounting.
  • Coordinate the planning and budgeting process and prepare cashflow reports.
  • Prepare and present management accounts, including analysis and commentary to the key stakeholders as required.
  • Lead the annual and statutory reporting process for internal and external audits.
  • Apply discipline in financial management, including managing banking, debt and cash flow, with appropriate segregation of duties.
  • Handle monthly payroll, pension calculations, and related returns and payments.
  • Prepare and maintain a fixed asset register and schedule of depreciation.
  • Manage a small team, ensuring necessary training is provided and development opportunities identified.
  • Oversee the management of the finance system and ensure effective use by all users.
  • Drive continuous improvement across the finance department and lead key projects.

This permanent Head of Finance will work onsite at the organisation's impressive offices in South West London with regular office attendance required. The role will offer an opportunity for the successful candidate to shape the finance team and the future direction of the department. The successful candidate will

  • Be either a fully qualified Accountant or part-qualified with significant relevant experience.
  • Have demonstrable experience in a broad accounting role with evidence of leading the year-end process.
  • Have previous experience as a people Manager.
  • Be confident leading on change and enjoy spearheading process improvement.
  • Have sound knowledge of accounting standards.
