Job Summary:

We are seeking a Principal Hydrologist to spearhead the growth of our flood risk consultancy services and provide technical leadership to our team of flood risk consultants. This role is perfect for a seasoned professional with a passion for flood risk assessment, groundwater management, and drainage solutions. You will play a critical role in delivering high-quality environmental consultancy reports, managing and mentoring a team, and driving business development efforts. Your work will involve collaboration with property professionals, developers, and asset managers across various sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Technical Delivery: Oversee and deliver technical reports on flood investigations, drainage assessments, and flood risk evaluations.
  • Site Assessments: Evaluate site suitability for development considering flood risk and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Due Diligence: Conduct due diligence reviews for commercial site acquisitions with a focus on flood risk.
  • Report Writing: Prepare and review technical reports, assisting junior consultants and ensuring high-quality outputs.
  • Team Management: Mentor and manage a team, supporting their professional growth and development.
  • Business Development: Contribute to the company's growth by developing new client relationships, securing work, and meeting business revenue targets.
  • Representation: Represent the company at industry meetings, conferences, and seminars.
  • Regulatory Consultations: Engage with regulatory bodies, including Local Authorities and the Environment Agency.
  • Client Management: Manage client accounts, ensuring their needs are met and projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Project Management: Prepare and review proposals, manage project timelines, and control budgets.
  • Travel: Undertake business development and site walkovers as required.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Degree in geoscience or a related field; postgraduate qualification preferred.
  • Professional Accreditation: Working towards or holding professional accreditation (e.g., CIWEM).
  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in the industry, with demonstrated project and team management skills.
  • Skills: Strong business development abilities, excellent communication skills, and experience in technical report writing.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in GIS and modeling software, with an innovative approach to commercializing technical ideas.
