Our client a nursery based in Colchester are seeking a Head of Early Years Practise (Training & Development Lead) to join their brilliant team, on a full time, permanent basis working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, offering a salary of up to £33,000 per annum. They would love to welcome an experienced and passionate Head of Early Years Practise to their supportive and welcoming team. The Head of Early Years Practice position is a diverse and exciting role, working in dual leadership with the Nursery Manager. This role plays a vital part in the success of our play environments and in supporting our team of educators to help children learn, grow and thrive.

What will you be doing?

Professional leadership and management of the Early Years education provisions to deliver high standards of care and learning opportunities to all children. You will have a passion for Early Years and strong experience and knowledge from working in Good and Outstanding settings. You will ensure that the nursery meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage and Ofsted registration and inspection criteria, along with Local Authority requirements. You must be able to build meaningful relationships with all stakeholders, children, parents, team, central team colleagues, have excellent communication skills and maintain confidentiality. You will be Leading the educational programmes and curriculum to ensure children are provided with every opportunity to meet their full potential through fun and exciting age and stage appropriate experiences, in line with our vision and values. You will ensure the learning environment is effective to deliver our curriculum, that policies and procedures are adhered to, and that the resources are of high quality, safe and fit for purpose. You will be coaching and mentoring the nursery team to deliver outstanding care and education, resolve challenges, in line with procedures. You will build strong relationships with the nursery team as a trusted manager who role models and communicates our values. Developing a strong, highly skilled, and motivated team with potential future leaders, through inspirational leadership where individuals strive to work at an outstanding level and to their full potential. You will be inducting and mentoring new nursery team members and leading one to one and group training sessions and team meetings/supervisions.

What skills will you have?

  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Wonderful communication and the ability to motivate, train, engage and inspire the team
  • Identify training needs and develop training plans for your team, with the support of Head Office
  • Be a visible role model, who demonstrates outstanding Early Years Practice to the nursery team, children and their families, and the wider community
  • Facilitation of inspections by regulatory bodies and implementation of recommendations alongside the rest of the leadership team
  • Minimum full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification
  • Minimum of 2 years recent experience of working in a Nursery/Preschool setting within a senior role
  • Excellent knowledge of the current Early Years Inspection Framework
  • Thorough working knowledge of child safeguarding and welfare requirements
