Junior Data Engineer Apprentice

As a Junior Data Engineer, you'll be learning how to use, analyse, and communicate data to
assist businesses in multiple sectors. You will be following the Data Technician Level 3
Apprenticeship scheme, with an additional certification for Microsoft Excel. Working across multiple projects, this is an exciting opportunity for you to develop your skillset and knowledge in a fast paced, forward-thinking working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Digital product collaboration: using digital tools to collaborate on a project from the

early phases of design through to implementation of a finished product.

  • Data analytics and processing: analysing & combining data from multiple sources and

processing it to create reports, structure databases, and plan & design systems.

  • Data sources and validation: understanding the reliability and validity of data sources

and using APIs to obtain up-to-date data.

  • Web development: developing web-based applications to display data cleanly on

both desktop and mobile devices.

  • Client communication: communicating your results & outcomes to clients, and

responding to client queries, within agreed timescales.

  • Security & compliance: ensuring that all of the above is handled in a secure

manner in accordance with relevant UK law.

Required Skills:

This is an entry level apprenticeship position, so there are no formal requirements other than
to hold at least 5 GCSEs at grade 3 / D or above, including English and Maths. You should also
have good computer literacy skills and excellent verbal & written communication skills.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate experience of any of the below:

  • Using data to affect change or create a positive outcome.
  • Building websites, apps, or making online content.
  • Prioritising and managing their own workload.
  • Developing understanding of different business practices quickly.

Entry Requirements:

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
