  • Salary: Circa £48,000 depending on experience
  • Location: Stevenage (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)
  • Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2/3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
  • Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship is required
  • Company bonus: Up to £2,500 (based on company performance and will vary year to year)
  • Pension: maximum total (employer and employee) contribution of up to 14%

The opportunity:

MEP focus on the sourcing, contracting and supply of bespoke high value / high complexity sub-systems needed to deliver world leading defence capabilities for our Customers, and the MEP Export Strategy & Industrial Participation team focus on developing technology transfer and offset propositions between our MEP Suppliers and our Customers industrial base.

Upon joining our team, you will undertake a role with a considerable responsibility for pro-actively managing a diverse range of internal stakeholders, at all levels within our business, together with external Supplier and stakeholder relationships.

This MEP role is unique, fast-paced and exciting, requiring a combination of commercial expertise and stakeholder management skills to support MEP business relationships, across a wide range of campaigns.

You will need to work effectively on multiple activities simultaneously - providing support to the MEP ES&IP Senior Executive, MEP ES&IP Technology Transfer Delivery Managers, Sales and Business Development (SBD) and International Industrial Cooperation (IIC).

Industrial Cooperation and Offset

Generate requests to the supply chain for proposals, outside of existing sector responsibilities to support objectives set by the International Industrial Cooperation team.

Understand the MEP requirements and provide support to the generation of appropriate IIC strategy by the various IIC Regional domain leads

Export Sales

Generate reports on export campaigns to the MEP New Business Teams and MEP Senior Leadership team through organization of Quarterly Export Reviews.

Support the Export Win Team Leaders with industrial activities that benefit business winning, including working with strategic MEP partners to provide technical information and cost data.

Ensure our commercial position is protected in the export environment, including working closely with Business Solutions Improvement (BS&I) and the National Compliance Officer (NCO) on ethical compliance/approvals for entities identified by IIC who may potentially form part of the industrial strategy.

Functional and Senior management support

Organize the MEP UK Quarterly Export review, collating inputs from the various MEP Sector New Business Leads, IIC leads and SBD Win Team leaders and arrange for guest speakers on topics of interest.

Act as the secretary for the MEP Export Approvals review, recording the approvals and noting any actions.

Participate in the MEP New Business Community of Purpose representing ES&IP.

  • An assertive individual with a can-do attitude who continually seeks way to maximise on opportunities - you will need to analyse situations and be adept at understanding and presenting different possibilities, balancing risk.
  • An individual able to work on multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Degree level academic qualifications (Law, Business, Economics, Commercial) or relative experience
  • Experience in Contracting, Intellectual Property identification, etc
  • An understanding of commercial constructs including contracts (prime and sub), requests for quotation, Statement of Works, Technical Requirement Specifications, Intellectual property valuation and Licensing (Royalties and Fees) etc.
  • Project management experience is valuable but not essential
