Health and Safety Advisor

£35,000 per annum DOE

Full Time – 41.5 Hour Basic Week

Monday to Friday (2 days per week site based)

8am – 5pm Monday-Thursday, 8am – 4pm Friday

On behalf of our client based near Stowmarket, we are searching for a Health and Safety Advisor to join their supportive, friendly and busy team. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and seeking continuous improvement of all Health & Safety standards in both the workshop and on all external locations. Experience with ISO Standards or knowledge of Environmental, Safety or Sustainability principles is required and Due to the nature of the role, travel will be involved- UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.

Main duties and responsibilities- included but not limited to:

  • Receive information from sources regarding new or changing legislation
  • Liaise with appropriate regarding the actions required to meet the legislation.
  • Investigate new safety initiative's and produce a procedure criteria for consideration and implementation
  • Carry out site inspections
  • Write Method Statements / Risk Assessments and COSHH Assessments for all site activities
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Carry out Accident Investigations, write reports & make recommendations. Report accidents as per RIDDOR requirements.
  • Assist the E & Q Manager in developing and maintaining company ISO Management Systems
  • Provide cover and be a point of contact and source of information during management absence.

Key skills and competencies:

  • Environmental Management qualification essential
  • NEBOSH Construction experience
  • Awareness of BREEAM / WELL / LEED Accreditation
  • Good administrative skills including data analysis
  • Ability to coordinate
  • Have a can-do attitude
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills
