Technical Buyer
Salary £42,500 - £45,000, dependent on experience
Hours: Monday - Friday, 08.00 - 17.00 (40 hours)

Our client established in 2009 has grown from strength to strength. We are recruiting for an experienced Technical Buyer to join a fantastic employer.
Responsibilities: Technical Buyer
- MRP order placement, analysing each item for specification, quality, delivery requirements and cost.
- Discuss technical requirements with suppliers, e.g. process, materials, dimensions, tolerances, finishes etc.
- Liaising with current and new suppliers to understand their full capabilities and constraints.
- Conduct supplier audits.
- Develop a robust supply chain ensuring free from monopolies.
- Identify and develop new suppliers based on capability, quality, lead time and price, within a tiered supplier network.
- Negotiate and set payment terms in alignment with market climate and end client payment terms for optimal cash management.
- Evaluate supplier performance and publish KPIs.
- Identify areas for improvement and cost savings.
- Investigate NCR issues to determine route cause and take appropriate action.
- Identify risks and minimise exposure working with stake holders to define and implement mitigating actions.
- Manage international suppliers.
- Manage projects assigned by Manufacturing Manager.
- Ensuring a safe working environment.
- Engage with continuous improvement activities.
- Investigate NCR issues to determine route cause and take appropriate action.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as required.
Skills / Experience: Technical Buyer
- Extensive experience in a machine shop environment.
- In depth knowledge of machined component manufacturing processes. (essential)
- Functioning within an ISO9001 environment.
- Demonstrable experience in purchasing role.
- A high degree of confidence interacting and negotiating with suppliers.
- Project management skills.
- Results driven, able to work well under pressure.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Supplier costs management and techniques.
- Supplier dispute resolution.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills. Must be able to work on own initiative.
- Must be reliable and prepared to work overtime, often at short notice.
- Working experience of manufacturing systems and processes.
- Excellent coordination and organisational skills.
- Able and willing to push through constraints in an engaging and collaborative manner.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
