Due to global expansion, a leading global retail organisation has a requirement for a Global Supply Chain & Procurement Director who will be responsible for setting up and management of all supply chain and procurement activities across the global operations. This role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of global supply chain dynamics, procurement processes, and retail industry trends. The ideal candidate will drive operational excellence, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement across the supply chain, ensuring the highest standards of product availability, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategies to support rapid business expansion by building an agile and efficient supply chain focused on enhancing customer experience, reducing operational costs, and improving capital utilisation.
  • Ensure robust governance and controls by establishing policies and procedures for all procurement activities, including both direct (food) and indirect (non-food) categories.
  • Lead the entire contract negotiation process for all indirect (non-food) and global food contracts. This includes managing the bidding process, consolidating information, conducting supplier checks, and overseeing supplier onboarding, in close collaboration with market teams.
  • Collaborate with market teams to establish and optimise sourcing, procurement, supply chain, and logistics operations.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies that balance global, multi-market, and local needs. Drive competitive bidding processes to reduce costs while maintaining quality.
  • Advocate for standardisation across markets where it can lead to cost savings without compromising quality. Facilitate design-to-value discussions leveraging inter-market learnings.
  • Partner with country teams and franchise partners to develop logistics solutions that support growth in new markets.
  • Monitor and determine the most cost-effective levels of finished goods and raw materials inventory, considering factors like historical demand, supplier lead times, manufacturing cycle time, and non-forecasted demand to align production with global demand requirements.
  • Establish infrastructure to minimise lead times and ensure informed purchasing decisions, balancing material availability, minimum order quantities, pricing, inventory levels, and quality requirements.
  • Define and implement strategies to maximise efficiency in production planning and procurement processes, ensuring a constant supply flow of finished products and optimal control of costs and availability times.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across key processes, technology, products, services, and experiences, simplifying complex operations and fostering a culture of ongoing improvement.
  • Lead strategic cost optimisation efforts through people, process improvements, technology, and contractual efficiencies.
  • Lead change management initiatives and drive transformative changes in support of strategic and operational objectives.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with supply chain management software and advanced analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, regulations, and sustainability standards.
