We are seeking a primary teacher who is enthusiastic about working with a Year 6 class. This position is based at a school in the York area and is a full-time role with working hours from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

The school aims to equip pupils to be confident, responsible and well educated, so that they can fulfil positive roles in society. They will provide a just, stimulating and caring environment where excellence can develop through high quality learning experiences and where the individual needs and abilities of pupils are taken into account.

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Planning appropriate lessons to meet national curriculum guidelines, keeping up to date with changes.
  • Creating engaging lessons to involve pupils of all abilities, coordinating with colleagues and TAs where needed.
  • Setting up the classroom, organising displays and equipment. Using a mix of resources to enhance pupil's exploration of the topic.
  • Using different teaching methods, including whole class, group work, independent research, demonstrations, experiments and play, to motivate and encourage interaction in the class.
  • Encouraging children to work together to achieve goals.
  • Providing help and support to individual pupils as required, taking responsibility for their academic progress.

Requirements:

  • Hold QTS.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS that is on the update service (or be willing to process one through Randstad).
  • Have previous teaching experience working in KS1 or KS2.
  • Have strong behaviour and classroom management skills, being able to manage and support students with different learning abilities.
  • Strong patience and time management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, maintaining effective relationships with children, support staff, and parents or carers.
