The Company

A brand-new role has opened up for a skilled Technology Manager within Underwriting for a global insurance business. The company are experts in developing digital solutions combining their data and analytical expertise to deliver award-winning solutions to worldwide clients.

You'd be joining a fast-paced team to lead the delivery of technical solutions across underwriting and claims. This position is really about augmenting underwriting technology and improving the use of technology and data within this process. You will work closely with their Head of Data & Analytics, CTO and Chief Underwriter. We are looking for someone with a strong technology and data focus.

The Role

Our ideal candidate will have a client-focused approach to work with experience consulting with key stakeholders within the underwriting landscape. You will have excellent communication skills - both written and spoken - as you'll be working closely with team members across the business.

Your goals will be to support the development of the underlying rules and logic that reflect the company's clients' risk appetite. The company pride themselves on developing the next generation of technology solutions so an appetite in predictive modelling and Gen AI is a must!

We're looking for someone with a positive, can-do attitude and a highly solution driven mindset as you proactively seek new ways of delivering better quality, cost and processes to company clients. You should be confident, taking ownership of multiple projects and applying a high standard of quality and attention to detail to your work.

The role is being offered on a hybrid basis from their London HQ.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use expert data analytical skills to provide a continuous cycle of optimisation, innovation and improvement of the underwriting rules and journey
  • Provide expert underwriting/claims expertise and knowledge to deliver and optimise each solution installation
  • Ensure the configuration reflects clients' and the company's risk appetite, optimises STP and uses behavioural science techniques to elicit optimal disclosure
  • Design and maintain underwriting/claims rulesets for new system implementation
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and regional market teams using expert data analysis.
  • Project management with a working knowledge of project management methodologies
  • Support new business development initiatives
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of underwriting / claims practices in local European markets.

What You Need:

  • Technology Skills - within an Underwriting environment
  • Ability to use Data and Analytics - looking at things like conversion and risk as well as dashboards.
  • Enthusiasm for things like predictive modelling, AI and augmenting underwriting technology
  • Skilled in auto underwriting / claims with configuration on logic / algorithms
  • French or Spanish language skills are a bonus but certainly not essential!
