ACCESSIBILITY LEAD - INITIAL 6 MONTHS - INSIDE IR35

Loriens leading Public Sector Client is looking for a highly experienced Accessibility lead with strong knowledge of User-Centred Design.

Essential Skills:

- Experience working at a lead level in a digital setting. Designing and delivering a wide range of accessibility and inclusive solutions including how digital services are built and how accessibility and inclusion play a part at each stage of delivery.

- Experience of planning and conducting accessibility testing and technical evaluations, and experience of advocating for accessibility awareness in digital teams.

- Working knowledge of key standards (Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018, the Equality Act 2010 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), Proven track record of communicating accessibility standards, requirements and insights effectively in such a way as to stimulate conversation and collaboration.

- Confident and dynamic communicator with the personal impact to thrive in a user-centric environment, able to listen to the needs of stakeholders and interpret & explain complex information.

Main Duties of this role

  • Perform accessibility audits of new digital systems
  • Manage and prioritise delivery of accessibility research, using appropriate methods for different life cycle phases and situations, including lab and field based usability testing, interviews, surveys, contextual inquiry and technical evaluations.
  • Provide advice and training to improve capability in our delivery teams in the creation of accessible and inclusive digital services.
  • Manage team members appropriately - managing resource scheduling, assuring quality, providing coaching and mentoring and encouraging engagement in the Accessibility community.
  • Build our accessibility and inclusive design function - providing guidance, quality assurance and staff development on accessibility issues.
  • Raise the profile of accessibility and promote accessibility and inclusion by design by providing guidance on existing methods and tools, and creating new tools to help teams.
  • Develop accessible and inclusive research methods to support broader participation in the design of government services and user research activities.
  • Contribute to coordinating and monitoring accessibility compliance for public facing digital services, forms, guidance and documents.
